On Feb 28. 2017 IAM International President Robert Martinez, General Vice Presidents James Conigliaro and Philip Gruber toured the Harley Davidson York, PA factory and visited with members of Local 175. While at the factory President Martinez had a round table discussion with the E-board and a group of members from the various process areas in the plant. President Martinez, GVP Conigliaro and GVP Gruber made it very clear that they wanted an open discussion about the concerns of our members at Harley Davidson. Issues discussed included the current relationship between Management and the Union members, the Recommitment to Partnering Agreement between the Company and the Union, Layoffs at the plant and the Surge program. President Martinez also had the chance to meet with the Local Union Presidents from the Milwaukee and Kansas City plants who were in town for their Union Council meeting held at the District 98 Hall. Also in attendance were D.B.R. Bob Miller and B.R. Bobby Orr of District 98, B.R. Scott Parr of District 10 and L.L. 778 DBR Joe Capra. L.L. 175 President Brian Zarilla stated “that this was a great opportunity to have President Martinez and GVP’s Conigliaro and Gruber come to York and meet face to face and have a sit down discussion to hear straight from the members on their concerns of the relationship here at our factory”. DBR Miller said “It was an honor and a privilege to have International President Martinez, Eastern Territory GVP Conigliaro and Midwest GVP Gruber come to District 98 to hear the concerns of our members at L.L. 175. L.L. 175 President Brian Zarilla and Vice-President Kermit Forbes should be commended for the excellent job they did arranging this event.”
